A transmitter built to stay on your hand while you hunt — in Long Leaf Fatal Flight camo
The R.A.P.T. 1400 CoverUp is the camo version of DT Systems’ curved-transmitter collar, finished in Mossy Oak’s Long Leaf Fatal Flight pattern on both the transmitter and collar receiver. The design problem it solves is the same one the RAPT 1450 addresses: what to do with the remote when the flush happens or the retrieve is on. The SureGrip™ strap holds the curved transmitter on your hand in three grip positions — knuckle, palm, or pistol — so you can hold a gun and the transmitter at the same time. The Rapid Access button on top fires with a single finger without changing your grip, and defaults to Nick. It can be reprogrammed to Continuous or Vibration Assist if you want a different function on the fast button.
How the transmitter grips work and what Jump stimulation does
The three grip positions let you match the hold to the situation. Knuckle grip straps the transmitter to the back of your hand, leaving your palm free — useful when you need to handle gear or carry something alongside the remote. Palm grip holds it like a stopwatch, which many retrievers hunters find natural when working from a blind. Pistol grip is the traditional hold for anyone coming from a standard tube-style remote. All three keep the Rapid Access button accessible without repositioning.
Jump stimulation lets you pre-program a second intensity level independent of your working dial and jump to it instantly with one button press. Set your session level for normal work, set your Jump level for moments that need a sharper, faster response, and key it without adjusting the dial at the wrong time. The 16 stimulation levels run DT Systems’ Gentle Touch™ system, calibrated from a mild low end up through a firm correction. Vibration Assist is available as a non-stimulating option. The Lockout™ feature prevents accidental stimulation when moving between fields or loading dogs.
Waterproofing, fit, and expandability
Both transmitter and collar are fully waterproof, and the transmitter floats. The MAXX-Range 360™ antenna is embedded in the full length of the collar belt for consistent FM signal reception across terrain. The collar fits 6”–22” necks and runs a rechargeable NiMH battery; the transmitter uses a standard replaceable 9V (not included). A SmartLED on the collar gives battery status at a glance. The system expands to 3 dogs with R.A.P.T. 1400 CoverUp Add-On Collars. DT Systems backs the 1400 with their Limited Lifetime Warranty when a warranty card is registered within 30 days of purchase.
RAPT 1400 vs. RAPT 1450: The RAPT 1450 adds an integrated upland beeper with Run & Point, Point Only, and Locate modes — everything the 1400 does, plus beeper functionality for pointing dogs. If you run retrievers and don’t need a beeper, the 1400 is the right call. If you run pointing dogs and want locate capability from the same transmitter, step up to the 1450.

Good quality, easy to set-up and use. No sound only vibration, battery needs charged after each use and takes a few hours to charge. Company responds very well to issues and request. (10/27/2015)- Great product, mine may be defectiveBy:Edwin Choi
This is a great product. I feel like it is safe for my dog. My dog responds immediately where I don't need to actually shock him with just the vibrate feature. The only thing is that the battery charge lasts less than 24 hours with a full charge. I was pretty disappointed but my buddy told me his lasts for a couple days at least. Is there anything i can do to get a new battery or my collar replaced? I just bought this exactly 2 weeks ago. Otherwise great product! (10/12/2015)- GreatBy:Brian Koehler
I bought it for my 6 month old chocolate lab. I like the control makes it hands free to do whatever you need to do. Easy to use really do like it (6/25/2015)
