The R.A.P.T. 1450 — upland beeper and e-collar in one, with a transmitter built to stay in your hand while you hunt
The R.A.P.T. 1450 Upland solves a problem that upland hunters deal with every season: what to do with the remote when the flush happens. A standard tube-style or pistol-grip remote has to be gripped, stowed, or dropped when the gun comes up. The R.A.P.T. (Rapid Access Pro Trainer) 1450 is built around the idea that you shouldn’t have to choose between working the remote and working the gun. The curved transmitter design and RAPT Strap™ keep the unit secured on the hand in three grip positions — knuckles, palm, or pistol grip — so you can hold the transmitter and the gun at the same time. When you need a correction, the Rapid Access button on top of the unit is accessible with a single finger without changing your grip.
The Rapid Access button and transmitter design

The Rapid Access button defaults to Nick but can be programmed to Locate, Continuous, or Vibration Assist — whichever function you use most in the field. The rest of the transmitter controls handle beeper mode selection, stimulation level adjustment, and dog switching. The transmitter is waterproof and floats, which matters for waterfowl crossover situations or any time the remote goes over the side of a boat or into a creek. It runs on a standard 9V battery (not included), making field replacement simple. Transmitter weight is 5.5 oz. with battery. The Lockout™ feature prevents accidental stimulation — engage it when moving between coverts or loading dogs.
Sixteen stimulation levels run through DT Systems’ Gentle Touch™ system, which calibrates output to start mild and scale up — useful for dogs that are sensitive or that you’re introducing to the collar for the first time. Nick and Continuous modes are both available alongside Vibration Assist™ as a non-stimulating option. Range is 1,400 yards (¾ mile) with the MAXX-Range 360™ internal collar antenna maintaining positive FM signal reception across varied terrain.
The beeper system
The integrated beeper is the feature that distinguishes the 1450 from the standard R.A.P.T. 1400. It runs in three modes — Run & Point, Point Only, and silent with manual locate — and the programmed mode does not cancel out when you press the Locate button. That matters in practical hunting: if your dog is in Run & Point mode and you hit Locate to get a quick fix on position, the collar goes back to Run & Point automatically rather than requiring you to reselect the mode. Each dog in a multi-dog setup has its own numbered tone identifier, so you can tell by ear which dog is moving and which is on point without looking at the transmitter. The beeper is audible up to 450 yards and ships with an adjustable volume cap — DT Systems recommends securing the cap with electrical tape in the field so it doesn’t get knocked off in heavy cover.

The system expands to 3 dogs with R.A.P.T. add-on collars (sold separately). Each additional dog gets its own beeper and receiver, and the transmitter toggle handles dog switching. The collar fits dogs with neck sizes 8”–23” adjustable in 3/8” increments, on a 25” × 1” strap. Receiver weight is 9.4 oz. with collar. The collar runs rechargeable NiMH batteries; the transmitter uses the replaceable 9V.
Fit note: The R.A.P.T. 1450 collar and beeper unit is sized for medium to large dogs. On smaller-necked breeds — Brittanys, smaller setters, spaniels — the beeper housing can sit high on the neck and may shift during field work. Measure your dog’s neck carefully before ordering. If your dog runs 8”–12” neck, call us at 1 (800) 524-2428 and we can help confirm fit before you buy.

I bought this collar for a Brittany, encouraged that the promotional materials even had a Brittany, I thought this would be the right collar. I received the collar and the beeper ended up right next to her ear and the collar wanted to adjust so the beeper was on the bottom. I did not want to over tighten. The hand controller is a unique design but did not work for shooting and handling gun.
