The SPT 2420’s 3.2-mile range and Jump/Rise stimulation, now with a built-in upland beeper
The SPT 2430 is the SPT 2420 with one addition: a built-in Beeper/Locator with Locate, Run & Point, and Point Only modes audible from 450 yards. Everything else is identical — 3.2-mile range, 50 stimulation levels, Jump and Rise stimulation, Vibration Assist, Vibration + Stimulation, backlit LCD screen, MAXX-Range internal antenna, and fully waterproof NiMH batteries in both collar and transmitter. If you’re running big-going pointing dogs in open country and want the full SPT 2400 series stimulation capability alongside a beeper you can control from the same unit, the 2430 is the complete system. The 2-dog version is the SPT 2432.
Jump and Rise stimulation — what they do in the field
Jump stimulation lets you pre-program a second intensity level independent of your working dial position and jump instantly to it with a single button press. Set your session level for normal training work, set your Jump level higher, and key it when a faster or harder correction is needed without fumbling with the dial at the moment timing matters. The Jump level is pre-set before the session.
Rise stimulation works the opposite way: hold the Rise button and stimulation increases continuously from your current working level until you release. The dog’s first perceptible response tells you where to stop. This removes the guesswork from establishing a working level on a new dog — instead of estimating from a chart, you let the dog’s reaction show you exactly where the threshold is. Vibration Assist and Vibration + Stimulation (V+S) are available as additional modes alongside standard Nick and Continuous.
The beeper system
The beeper runs three modes selectable from the transmitter: Locate, Run & Point, and Point Only. In Run & Point mode the beeper sounds on a cadence while the dog is moving and shifts pattern when the dog stops on point. Point Only holds the beeper silent while the dog runs and activates only on point. Locate fires the beeper on demand at any time regardless of which mode is active — useful when hunting wild birds in silence without committing to a run mode, or for getting a quick fix in heavy cover. Audible range is up to 450 yards. A sound control cap is available separately and can be used during introductory training sessions to lower beeper volume while the dog adjusts to the sound; DT Systems recommends securing it with electrical tape if used in the field so it doesn’t get knocked off in cover.
The MAXX-Range internal antenna is built into the collar itself rather than a standard stub antenna on the transmitter. The backlit LCD screen on the transmitter displays current intensity level, stimulation type in use, and a battery indicator. A built-in safety shut-off prevents continuous stimulation beyond a set duration. The system ships as a 1-dog unit; the SPT 2432 is the factory 2-dog version.
SPT 2430 vs. SPT 2420: The SPT 2420 is the same system without the beeper — identical range, stimulation levels, and modes, just no beeper/locator built in. If you run pointing dogs and want the beeper integrated, the 2430 is the complete upland system. If you don’t need the beeper, the 2420 saves you the step-up.
