The FieldTrainer 425XS — same compact platform as the 425X, built for dogs that need more
The 425XS runs on the same platform as the 425X — same size, same weight, same 500-yard range, same no-look one-handed operation — with one key difference: higher stimulation output. It’s built specifically for high-drive, more stubborn dogs that don’t respond adequately to the standard 425X range. If your dog tunes you out, pushes boundaries no matter the correction, or has a high pain threshold, the 425XS is the right starting point rather than discovering that mid-training with the wrong collar.
The 21 stimulation levels are accessed through SportDOG’s familiar 1–7 dial, with Low, Medium, and High for each position. The XS model’s stimulation range sits higher than the standard 425X — the same number of levels, more power behind them. The remote is designed for no-look, one-handed operation so you can keep your eyes on your dog. Both transmitter and receiver use DryTek® technology and are waterproof and submersible to 25 feet, with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that charge in 2 hours and last 50–70 hours per charge.
Same system, one important difference
If you’re deciding between the 425X and 425XS, the question is your dog’s temperament. The standard 425X covers most dogs with average to normal dispositions. The 425XS is for dogs that are genuinely difficult — high prey drive, stubborn breeds, or dogs that have already been tried on a standard collar without results. Starting a soft or sensitive dog on the XS is not recommended. If you’re not sure which applies to your dog, start with the 425X.
The 425XS ships as a 1-dog system and expands to 3 dogs with SDR-AXS Add-A-Dog® collars. Switch instantly between static stimulation, vibration, and tone from the same remote. Also available in Realtree MAX 5 Camo.
Note on Add-A-Dog collars: The 425XS uses the SDR-AXS receiver, not the SDR-AXF used with the standard 425X. Make sure you order the correct add-on collar for your system.

- Great training guide with deviceBy:Gregory Krause
I read through the guide prior to using the collar and it helped a lot with training of my self along side of the dog. And the collar was very effective stepped up step by set and the dog came by the 4th level after casing a wild rabbit around 2 houses. Dog won't leave my side when I call him, and while he still tries pressing the alpha behavior just the sound is enough to keep in line along with specific vocal commands. Highly recommend after using this with my 3 year old pit boxer lab mix. (2/6/2024)
