A transmitter built to stay on your hand while you train or hunt — three grip positions, one-finger access
The R.A.P.T. 1400 solves the problem of what to do with the remote when both hands are occupied. The SureGrip™ strap holds the curved transmitter on your hand in three grip positions — knuckle, palm, or pistol — so you can hold a gun, a dummy launcher, or a leash and still have the remote secured and accessible. The Rapid Access button on top fires with a single finger without changing your grip. It defaults to Nick but can be reprogrammed to Continuous or Vibration Assist depending on what function you want fastest. The transmitter is designed for left or right-handed operation.
Three grip positions and what each one is for
Knuckle grip straps the transmitter to the back of your hand, leaving your palm free — useful when you need to carry something or handle gear while keeping the remote accessible. Palm grip holds it like a stopwatch, which many hunters find natural when working from a blind or stand. Pistol grip is the traditional hold for trainers coming from a standard tube-style remote, with the thumb on most buttons and the trigger finger on the Rapid Access button on top. All three keep the Lockout™ feature accessible, which prevents accidental stimulation when moving between fields or loading dogs into the truck.
Jump stimulation lets you pre-program a second intensity level and jump to it with one button press — set your session level for normal work, set your Jump level higher, and key it when a sharper response is needed without adjusting the dial under pressure. The 16 stimulation levels run DT Systems’ Gentle Touch™ system, calibrated from a mild low end up. Vibration Assist is available as a non-stimulating option alongside Nick and Continuous.
Collar, waterproofing, and expandability
Both transmitter and collar are fully waterproof, and the transmitter floats. The MAXX-Range 360™ antenna is embedded in the full length of the collar belt for consistent FM signal reception across terrain. The collar fits 6”–22” necks and runs a rechargeable NiMH battery; the transmitter uses a standard replaceable 9V (not included). A SmartLED on the collar gives battery status at a glance. The system expands to 3 dogs with R.A.P.T. 1400 Add-On Collars. DT Systems backs the 1400 with their Limited Lifetime Warranty when a warranty card is registered within 30 days of purchase.
R.A.P.T. 1400 vs. R.A.P.T. 1400 CoverUp: Same collar, same transmitter design, same specs — the CoverUp version adds Long Leaf Fatal Flight camo finish on both units for hunters who want concealment in the blind or field. If finish doesn’t matter, the standard black is the right call.

I'm researched so many different training collars and I am very happy that I decided to go with the RAPT 1400 Rapid Access Pro Trainer. It is very easy to setup, and "rapid access" is an excellent way to describe this product, which is a credit to the superb design of the handheld transmitter. I think the programmable rapid access buttons and the jump button feature are SO helpful for quick corrections and are my favorite features. I purchased this training collar for the safety of my 4 year old black lab named Frosty. Frosty is a pheasant hunter with no formal training other than basic obedience we taught her at home; additionally, she is a beloved friend and family pet. Most days she is a very calm, obedient dog with a healthy energy level; however, The during the rare combination of her being super focused on something and becoming almost hyperactive, she doesn't always obey commands on the first, second or even on the third time. I want nothing more than for Frosty to enjoy her time off the leash in our front or backyard at home or in the field, but for her to enjoy that time also means I need to help keep her safe and out of harms way. This training collar has been very helpful in improving her response time to commands and deterring negative behaviors. I am not a professional or experienced dog trainer so I can't speak to that level, but I highly recommend this training collar in general and especially to dog owners like me that has only had minimal experience with training collars in the past but wants a collar he or she can grow into, if you will. Currently, I don't have a use for every function on the transmitter, but after using this training collar for the last month I have no doubt I will incorporate this it in the training of any additional dogs we add to the family.
