Add-A-Dog collars pair directly to your existing transmitter and give you independent control over each dog from the same handheld. The key is matching the right Add-A-Dog collar to your specific SportDOG system. SportDOG receiver collars are not universally cross-compatible — each model is engineered for specific transmitter families. Using the wrong collar won’t damage anything, but it won’t pair. What to know before you order

Add-A-Dog collars don’t include a transmitter. They pair to the transmitter you already own. Your existing transmitter must support multi-dog mode — all SportDOG systems on this page do.

Each dog gets independent control. Once paired, each collar receiver is assigned to a specific button on the transmitter. You correct Dog 1 with one button, Dog 2 with another. The dogs don’t interfere with each other and you don’t need to toggle between them mid-session.

Same DryTek waterproofing as the primary collar. Every Add-A-Dog collar on this page uses the same submersible waterproof construction as the base system collar — submersible to 25 feet. There’s no difference in durability or water resistance between the primary collar and the add-on.

Battery life is the same. Add-A-Dog receivers use the same rechargeable lithium-ion battery as the primary collar. Expect 140–160 hours per charge depending on usage.

The HoundHunter 3225 supports up to 6 dogs. All other SportDOG systems support up to 3 dogs total (1 primary + 2 add-on collars).
