The elevated position reduces the amount of neck and shoulder flexion required during feeding, which matters for larger dogs that would otherwise have to crane down to reach a floor-level bowl. Both bowls are ceramic fired at high temperature, which makes them dense, non-porous, and resistant to bacterial buildup compared to plastic alternatives. They are dishwasher-safe.
