High-drive hunting dogs will push themselves past the point of safety without hesitation. A dog running hard in August heat, chasing a bird that got up late, working cover in 90-degree humidity — that dog is not going to stop on its own. The FieldSentinel 825 is the first e-collar ever built to address that. BodyGuard™ technology monitors your dog’s heart rate and the intensity and duration of exertion in real time, then sends an alert to your handheld — vibration, tone, and LED — when your dog’s exhaustion level reaches a point that warrants attention. Not a diagnosis. A signal to go check on your dog, give him water, call him in. Like a check engine light: it doesn’t tell you what’s wrong, it tells you to look.

The origin of BodyGuard traces to the South Dakota pheasant opener of 2003. Unusually hot weather combined with remote hunting grounds and unprepared dogs resulted in over 100 dogs that didn’t make it home that weekend. BodyGuard is SportDOG’s answer to the question: how could we have helped? The FieldSentinel doesn’t replace watching your dog — it augments it. When you’re focused on a bird working cover at 300 yards, BodyGuard is watching your dog’s vitals.

How BodyGuard works

After a short calibration period once the collar is on and your dog is moving, BodyGuard begins monitoring in real time. It combines heart rate data with exertion intensity and duration to calculate a fatigue level. When that level reaches a threshold you’ve set, the handheld alerts you. The alert thresholds are adjustable — you can calibrate sensitivity to your specific dog’s fitness level and the conditions of the day. A conditioned dog working cool October mornings gets a different threshold than the same dog on an August afternoon in South Dakota.

The FieldSentinel 825 is a complete remote training collar with all the controls you expect from a SportDOG system — the health monitoring is layered on top, not a replacement for training capability. It offers 7 instantly selectable static stimulation levels from the remote, expandable to 21 (Low, Medium, High ranges) by adjusting on the collar. Tone, vibration, and static stimulation modes. Tactile no-look dial for level adjustment. Half-mile range. Expandable to 2 dogs with the FS-AD Add-A-Dog collar, switching between dogs via toggle on the remote. Both collar and handheld are waterproof and submersible to 3 feet.
