Aircraft-grade aluminum crate for large and extra-large breeds — lighter than steel, built to last a lifetime
The Zinger 5500 Deluxe is built for tall, heavy breeds that need more height than the 5000 provides. At 34” tall and 42” long it accommodates Great Pyrenees, Rottweilers, Tosas, and Dogue de Bordeauxs — breeds that stand tall and carry significant body mass. The 5500 is 26” wide, slightly narrower than the 5000, but the added height and length make it the better fit for taller dogs that would be cramped standing in a shorter crate. At approximately 49–55 lbs., two people are recommended for vehicle loading, and the optional HD carry handles are worth adding at this size.
Built from aircraft-grade aluminum — one third the weight of steel at comparable strength — with construction that does not wear out or need replacing. When sizing, add a comfort buffer above your dog’s actual standing height. The dog should be able to stand fully upright, turn around, and lie flat without being cramped.
The Deluxe series is Zinger’s lightest line. At this size and breed type, if your dog has any history of forcing or chewing through crate doors, call us and we can discuss the Professional or Heavy Duty options in the 5500 size.
What sets it apart
Ventilation. Three rows of vent holes run along the top and bottom of all non-door and non-barred sides. Aluminum dissipates heat faster than plastic or steel, and the open door design combined with the vent holes allows air to move freely through the crate. For large, heavy breeds that generate more body heat, this ventilation design makes a meaningful difference in comfort during transport.
Silver Hammertone powder coat. Applied inside and out at high temperature so it won’t chip or wear off. The interior coating matters — bare aluminum oxidizes over time and the residue transfers to your dog’s coat, leaving a grey discoloration. The interior powder coat prevents this entirely.
Lockable slam latch. Each door has a flush-mounted keyed latch. The crate can be locked when you’re away from it. The door is fully reversible — it can be configured to open left or right depending on how you load the vehicle or set up the crate.
Modular design. All Zinger crates in the same series can be stacked or coupled side by side. If you run multiple dogs, the crates connect to form a stable bank without additional hardware.
Sizing at this range. The 5500 and 5000 are close in price and share the same large-breed territory but serve different body types. The 5000 (28”W × 32”H × 40”L) is wider and better for broad-chested breeds. The 5500 (26”W × 34”H × 42”L) is taller and longer, better for dogs that are tall at the shoulder.
