The Zinger 3500 Deluxe is the next size up from the 3000 — same 21” width, but 4 inches taller and 8 inches longer, proportioned for breeds that are heavier and more thickset than the dogs suited to the 3000. Zinger sizes this crate for Shetland Sheepdogs, Bulldogs, Spaniels, and Australian Cattle Dogs. At approximately 38 lbs. it is still a one-person crate. Like every crate in the Zinger Deluxe line, it is built from aircraft-grade aluminum — one third the weight of steel at comparable strength — with construction that does not wear out or need replacing. This is a crate you buy once.

When sizing, add a comfort buffer above your dog’s actual standing height. The dog should be able to stand fully upright, turn around, and lie flat without being cramped. The 3500 is SUV-friendly and fits between the wheel wells of most pickup trucks — a practical consideration for hunters and handlers who transport dogs regularly.

The Deluxe series is Zinger’s lightest and most accessible line. It is not their escape-proof line — that’s the Professional and Heavy Duty series. For dogs that are destructive or have a history of breaking out of crates, step up to the Professional. For dogs that need a secure, well-ventilated, properly built crate for travel, the truck, or home use, the Deluxe is the right choice.

What sets it apart

Ventilation. Three rows of vent holes run along the top and bottom of all non-door and non-barred sides. Aluminum dissipates heat faster than plastic or steel, and the open door design combined with the vent holes allows air to move freely through the crate. This matters in a vehicle in warm weather — a well-ventilated aluminum crate runs significantly cooler than a plastic one in the same conditions.

Silver Hammertone powder coat. Applied inside and out at high temperature so it won’t chip or wear off. The interior coating matters — bare aluminum oxidizes over time and the residue transfers to your dog’s coat, leaving a grey discoloration. The interior powder coat prevents this entirely.

Lockable slam latch. Each door has a flush-mounted keyed latch. The crate can be locked when you’re away from it. The door is fully reversible — it can be configured to open left or right depending on how you load the vehicle or set up the crate.

Modular design. All Zinger crates in the same series can be stacked or coupled side by side. If you add a second dog or need a two-crate setup in the truck, the crates connect to form a stable bank without additional hardware.

Assembly note. All Zinger crates require assembly. Two people are strongly recommended — one to hold and one to tighten hardware. The assembly process is straightforward but the bolt tightening requires two sets of hands to do correctly. Plan for 30–45 minutes on first assembly.
