Border Patrol TC1 - GPS Portable Dog Fence / Remote Trainer
32 Review(s) (4.5/5)
The only system on this page that combines GPS containment with a full remote training collar. Set a boundary up to 2 miles from the remote, see your dogs on screen, and train with the same collar in the field. The most versatile system here.
The Border Patrol TC1 is a GPS fence, a tracking system, and a remote training collar — all in one
There is no other system on this page that does what the Border Patrol TC1 does. Every other fence on this site is either a containment system or a training collar — the TC1 is both simultaneously, running off a single handheld unit and a single collar your dog wears. Set a GPS boundary to keep your dogs on your property, track their location up to 2 miles away, and train them with the same remote you use for containment. One system. One collar. No compromises.
It’s built by DE Systems and it’s completely portable. No wire to bury, no transmitter to plug in, no app required. Take it to a friend’s property, a campsite, a vacation rental, or use it at home. Wherever you have GPS signal, you have a fence.
GPS containment — portable, wireless, and set up in minutes
The TC1 uses GPS satellite positioning to create a circular containment boundary. Set your fence center point on the handheld unit, dial in your boundary radius anywhere from 15 yards to 800 yards, and the collar does the rest. That 800-yard radius means nearly a mile of freedom in every direction — enough coverage for large rural properties, farms, and hunting land where a traditional fence system would never reach.
The boundary system uses three distinct zones. The Safe Zone is the interior area where your dog roams freely with no warning or stimulation. The Warning Zone is the outer ring approaching the boundary — when your dog enters this zone, the collar delivers a warning beep, vibration, or both, depending on how you’ve configured it. The Stimulation Zone is the final boundary line — if your dog keeps going, he receives a static correction at whatever intensity level you’ve set. You control the width of each zone independently, so you can give a large early warning zone for a fast dog or tighten it up for a dog that’s already well trained.
One critical safety feature: once you’ve activated the fence and set your boundaries, you can power off the handheld unit entirely. The collar stores the last saved settings and continues enforcing the fence on its own. You don’t need to carry the remote around while the fence is running.
Welcome Home — the safety feature that matters most
Every fence system has to answer the same question: what happens if your dog gets out? Most systems just keep correcting the dog even when he’s trying to come back, which creates confusion and can make a dog reluctant to return. The TC1’s Welcome Home feature solves this. If your dog crosses the boundary and tries to return to the safe zone, the collar automatically suspends correction so he can come back without being punished for it. Clean signal, no mixed messages — your dog always knows that coming home is safe.
FenceView short-range GPS tracking
With the fence active, the handheld unit’s color LCD screen shows you the direction and distance of each dog from the fence center, up to 2 miles away line-of-sight. You can see at a glance whether each dog is in the safe zone, the warning zone, the stimulation zone, or outside the boundary entirely. If a dog gets out, you know immediately and you can track him down. The TC1 also stores up to 4 waypoints in addition to the automatically saved fence center — mark a gate, a parking area, or any landmark you want to find again.
This is where the TC1 makes the most sense for rural property owners and people who travel with dogs. Set a fence boundary at home, at a campsite, or anywhere else you need containment — same collar, same remote, same system wherever you go.
Remote training collar — full-featured, 2-mile range
The TC1’s remote training capability is not a stripped-down add-on — it’s a complete e-collar system. 50 levels of static stimulation, Nick and Continuous modes, vibration, Jump stimulation, and Rise stimulation. The 2-mile line-of-sight range is the same as a standalone training collar in this price class. Each dog’s settings are stored individually in the remote, so when you scroll between dogs you don’t have to reset levels — the correct stimulation goes to the correct dog automatically.
The fence and training modes run simultaneously. You can train a dog in the field while the fence boundary is active on other dogs back at camp. This is the flexibility that no other single system provides.
Who this system is for
The TC1 is the right system if you have a large rural property, travel frequently with your dog, or want one device that handles fence and training without buying two separate systems. It’s recommended for dogs 25 lbs and up with a minimum neck size of 14 inches. GPS accuracy can be affected by dense tree cover, large metal structures, or powerlines — a wider warning zone helps compensate in those environments. For small suburban yards, a wireless or underground fence will be simpler and less expensive. For large property owners or anyone who moves around with dogs — nothing else combines these three functions at this price.
To add dogs to the system, additional TC1-ADD collars are required. Find them here: Border Patrol TC1 Additional Collars.

GoodOverall It's a great product for the price. The collar doesn't always connect with GPS but if you program a large enough warning zone it will correct the problem. The remote doesn't hold a charge for a full day so I keep it plugged in. I don't use the remote very often. The GPS fence keeps my dogs where I want them.
Easy and effectiveOverall Easy to set up, effective. Just wish there was a “tone” in training mode as well. Works as a fence, also works for my dogs off leash in the woods.
Excellent systemOverall Purchased this to prevent two dogs from venturing away from home, but still allow plenty of room on 40 acres to run around. Works very well, the dogs learned very quickly to respect the vibration and sound alert when venturing close to boundary. The remote shows the general direction of the dogs if they can't be seen, and how far away they are, including if they are outside the boundary. A nice feature that came in handy the first day of use, before they became trained. Overall a great product!
Pretty happy with itOverall pretty happy so far dogs learned pretty quick where the boundaries are will follow up once I figure everything out.
GoodOverall The unit works really well on my property. There's only a few dead spots. It would be nice if you could produce an app with satellite tracking and the ability to customize border perimeters.
Works well once it connectOverall It does the job once its up and running. Every morning I run into the same issue that the collar does not connect to the radio remote. I add the collar and then it usually takes 10-15 tries before it connects. Fence is really easy to set up and it took only 2 days for the dog to know the boundaries. I would think it beneficial if the collar was a clip instead of a buckle. It would be quicker to put on.
CompassOverall When first setting up there was some issues with the compass and just had to reconfigure the system twice. Otherwise system is running just fine
TC1 gps dog collarOverall I ordered a GPS dog tracking and correction collar online from Sporting Dog and the next day the company personally reached out to me to info me that that product was out of stock and could take 2-3 weeks before it arrived which I have grown accustom to during Covid so no big deal. It showed up in approximately 2 weeks and the collar is the best investment I have made for the safety of my Great Pyrenees. Also I didn’t mention that Sporting Dog Pro was the cheapest online that I could find. I saved almost 100 dollars by ordering from them. I would definitely recommend you to give this company you’re business.
Very functional two in one systemOverall Bought this collar for my 60 lb, 9 month old, English Shepherd. We have about 89 acres, half ag half wooded, on rolling hills. The collar does a great job keeping her from chasing cars down the long drive and keeps her off the road. The dog's instinct led to major issues with chasing runners, ATVs, pretty much anything that moves fast. GPS gets spotty in woods, and sometimes she finds the holes. We had to adjust center a few times to keep her in the open and can easily turn the fence off when we go for walks through the woods. Boundary shifts sometimes when shes in bounds but is fairly consistent. She adjusted well to her boundary in about two weeks. Using the training functions to teach her to heard and be less enthusiastic with the small kids, etc. She comes to the vibration without having to call. Working so far. Soon I hope she wont need it to know where she is and isn't supposed go. Doesn't have as many training or map functions as a Garmin (I would really like to see how many miles that girl runs in a day; she's a busy lady), but the boundary function has worked really well for our situation and is not offered in a two in one by Garmin at this time.
Great ProductOverall TC1 border patrol works as described and has been a huge help keeping or 4 year old lab home on the 40 acres. My only complaint is the fabric collar, seems to be showing wear only a few weeks in.
