Full-size canvas training dummy — scent retention and realistic weight
Canvas is the material of choice when scent matters. Where plastic dummies are essentially scent-neutral, canvas absorbs and retains game scent session after session — making this dummy a far more realistic stand-in for real birds than any plastic bumper. For dogs being prepared for waterfowl or upland hunting, running hunt tests, or working through scent-based drills, the canvas jumbo bridges the gap between a retrieve dummy and live game in a way plastic simply can’t.
At 2¾" x 12", this is full standard size — the same profile as the jumbo plastic dummies but with the scent and feel advantages of canvas. The weight and bulk more closely simulate a real bird than the smaller puppy canvas dummy, making it the right step for a dog that has graduated from puppy introductions and is ready for more demanding work. The softer canvas surface also encourages a gentler hold than plastic, which is useful for any dog developing or refining a soft mouth.
Built for repeated use in the field
The canvas covers closed-cell foam that holds its shape through years of use. Sewn with Dacron thread that doesn’t break down with repeated water exposure, and weighted for a clean, consistent throw. A poly rope is sewn directly into the dummy so there’s no separate attachment to fail. Available in orange or white — choose the color that suits your training environment.
Tip: Adding duck scent or pheasant scent to this dummy reinforces the connection between the retrieve and the bird. Canvas holds scent far longer than plastic — apply before each session and let it air dry between uses.
