The Border Patrol TC1 is a GPS fence, a tracking system, and a remote training collar — all in one

There is no other system on this page that does what the Border Patrol TC1 does. Every other fence on this site is either a containment system or a training collar — the TC1 is both simultaneously, running off a single handheld unit and a single collar your dog wears. Set a GPS boundary to keep your dogs on your property, track their location up to 2 miles away, and train them with the same remote you use for containment. One system. One collar. No compromises.

It’s built by DE Systems and it’s completely portable. No wire to bury, no transmitter to plug in, no app required. Take it to a friend’s property, a campsite, a vacation rental, or use it at home. Wherever you have GPS signal, you have a fence.

GPS containment — portable, wireless, and set up in minutes

The TC1 uses GPS satellite positioning to create a circular containment boundary. Set your fence center point on the handheld unit, dial in your boundary radius anywhere from 15 yards to 800 yards, and the collar does the rest. That 800-yard radius means nearly a mile of freedom in every direction — enough coverage for large rural properties, farms, and hunting land where a traditional fence system would never reach.

The boundary system uses three distinct zones. The Safe Zone is the interior area where your dog roams freely with no warning or stimulation. The Warning Zone is the outer ring approaching the boundary — when your dog enters this zone, the collar delivers a warning beep, vibration, or both, depending on how you’ve configured it. The Stimulation Zone is the final boundary line — if your dog keeps going, he receives a static correction at whatever intensity level you’ve set. You control the width of each zone independently, so you can give a large early warning zone for a fast dog or tighten it up for a dog that’s already well trained.

One critical safety feature: once you’ve activated the fence and set your boundaries, you can power off the handheld unit entirely. The collar stores the last saved settings and continues enforcing the fence on its own. You don’t need to carry the remote around while the fence is running.

Welcome Home — the safety feature that matters most

Every fence system has to answer the same question: what happens if your dog gets out? Most systems just keep correcting the dog even when he’s trying to come back, which creates confusion and can make a dog reluctant to return. The TC1’s Welcome Home feature solves this. If your dog crosses the boundary and tries to return to the safe zone, the collar automatically suspends correction so he can come back without being punished for it. Clean signal, no mixed messages — your dog always knows that coming home is safe.

FenceView short-range GPS tracking

With the fence active, the handheld unit’s color LCD screen shows you the direction and distance of each dog from the fence center, up to 2 miles away line-of-sight. You can see at a glance whether each dog is in the safe zone, the warning zone, the stimulation zone, or outside the boundary entirely. If a dog gets out, you know immediately and you can track him down. The TC1 also stores up to 4 waypoints in addition to the automatically saved fence center — mark a gate, a parking area, or any landmark you want to find again.

This is where the TC1 makes the most sense for rural property owners and people who travel with dogs. Set a fence boundary at home, at a campsite, or anywhere else you need containment — same collar, same remote, same system wherever you go.

Remote training collar — full-featured, 2-mile range

The TC1’s remote training capability is not a stripped-down add-on — it’s a complete e-collar system. 50 levels of static stimulation, Nick and Continuous modes, vibration, Jump stimulation, and Rise stimulation. The 2-mile line-of-sight range is the same as a standalone training collar in this price class. Each dog’s settings are stored individually in the remote, so when you scroll between dogs you don’t have to reset levels — the correct stimulation goes to the correct dog automatically.

The fence and training modes run simultaneously. You can train a dog in the field while the fence boundary is active on other dogs back at camp. This is the flexibility that no other single system provides.

Who this system is for

The TC1 is the right system if you have a large rural property, travel frequently with your dog, or want one device that handles fence and training without buying two separate systems. It’s recommended for dogs 25 lbs and up with a minimum neck size of 14 inches. GPS accuracy can be affected by dense tree cover, large metal structures, or powerlines — a wider warning zone helps compensate in those environments. For small suburban yards, a wireless or underground fence will be simpler and less expensive. For large property owners or anyone who moves around with dogs — nothing else combines these three functions at this price.

To add dogs to the system, additional TC1-ADD collars are required. Find them here: Border Patrol TC1 Additional Collars.

Customer Reviews
Good
It's a great product for the price. The collar doesn't always connect with GPS but if you program a large enough warning zone it will correct the problem. The remote doesn't hold a charge for a full day so I keep it plugged in. I don't use the remote very often. The GPS fence keeps my dogs where I want them. ()
Easy and effective
Easy to set up, effective. Just wish there was a “tone” in training mode as well. Works as a fence, also works for my dogs off leash in the woods. ()
Excellent system
Purchased this to prevent two dogs from venturing away from home, but still allow plenty of room on 40 acres to run around. Works very well, the dogs learned very quickly to respect the vibration and sound alert when venturing close to boundary. The remote shows the general direction of the dogs if they can't be seen, and how far away they are, including if they are outside the boundary. A nice feature that came in handy the first day of use, before they became trained. Overall a great product! ()
Pretty happy with it
pretty happy so far dogs learned pretty quick where the boundaries are will follow up once I figure everything out. ()
Good
The unit works really well on my property. There's only a few dead spots. It would be nice if you could produce an app with satellite tracking and the ability to customize border perimeters. ()
Works well once it connect
It does the job once its up and running. Every morning I run into the same issue that the collar does not connect to the radio remote. I add the collar and then it usually takes 10-15 tries before it connects. Fence is really easy to set up and it took only 2 days for the dog to know the boundaries. I would think it beneficial if the collar was a clip instead of a buckle. It would be quicker to put on. ()
Compass
When first setting up there was some issues with the compass and just had to reconfigure the system twice. Otherwise system is running just fine ()
TC1 gps dog collar
I ordered a GPS dog tracking and correction collar online from Sporting Dog and the next day the company personally reached out to me to info me that that product was out of stock and could take 2-3 weeks before it arrived which I have grown accustom to during Covid so no big deal. It showed up in approximately 2 weeks and the collar is the best investment I have made for the safety of my Great Pyrenees. Also I didn’t mention that Sporting Dog Pro was the cheapest online that I could find. I saved almost 100 dollars by ordering from them. I would definitely recommend you to give this company you’re business. ()
Very functional two in one system
Bought this collar for my 60 lb, 9 month old, English Shepherd. We have about 89 acres, half ag half wooded, on rolling hills. The collar does a great job keeping her from chasing cars down the long drive and keeps her off the road. The dog's instinct led to major issues with chasing runners, ATVs, pretty much anything that moves fast. GPS gets spotty in woods, and sometimes she finds the holes. We had to adjust center a few times to keep her in the open and can easily turn the fence off when we go for walks through the woods. Boundary shifts sometimes when shes in bounds but is fairly consistent. She adjusted well to her boundary in about two weeks. Using the training functions to teach her to heard and be less enthusiastic with the small kids, etc. She comes to the vibration without having to call. Working so far. Soon I hope she wont need it to know where she is and isn't supposed go. Doesn't have as many training or map functions as a Garmin (I would really like to see how many miles that girl runs in a day; she's a busy lady), but the boundary function has worked really well for our situation and is not offered in a two in one by Garmin at this time. ()
Great Product
TC1 border patrol works as described and has been a huge help keeping or 4 year old lab home on the 40 acres. My only complaint is the fabric collar, seems to be showing wear only a few weeks in. ()
works well
got this to have some containment control for our Great Pyrenees, We had trouble with him going out to the road when the neighbor lady was walking. we live on a large farm so I needed GPS control of a larger area, this does work well. The only downfall would be to have to charge it daily. ()
Great collar
This collar worked really well for my dog. We have an outside puppy that started wandering the neighborhood whenever he wanted. Being out in the county with a big yard we didn’t want to spend the time and money burying a wire to keep him in the yard. With this collar I got the perimeter set perfectly and it only took him a couple shocks to understand where his boundaries were. Then we got to the point where when he heard the beep he knew he was getting too far away. Now he doesn’t even go to the point where it beeps. I also really like that if he doesn’t listen to me I can give him a little shock with the controller if needed. The only downfall of this collar is having to charge it so often, but now I don’t even have to have it charged all the time because my dog knows his boundaries. I usually only charge it a couple times a week incase he would need a reminder. Overall great collar! ()
Great Product
This is our second purchase of this product. We have 2 homes located in 2 different states. Our first home has 11 acres and was not fenced; The cost of fencing in the entire property was way more than we wanted to invest. But after an accident left our dog missing for hours without us knowing if she was injured or dead we knew we had to do something. We began researching GPS fencing. Although not with the same dog we had tried the underground fencing, even the stubborn dog one and found it did not work.
We did not want to waste time with that product again. Our dog already had a training collar but not one with GPS. After days of research we found the border patrol and placed an order. We received the product and immediately went to set it up. The instruction manual was easy to follow and set up was relatively quick. Our goal was to keep our dog safe and be able to know where she was at all times. Since she was already accustomed to a training collar she responded well to the vibration stimulus and it wasn't long before she knew her boundaries and kept her distance from them. This purchase and set up was no different (except set up was slightly faster since we already had a unit). The reasoning behind the second units purchase was the same as the first it allows us to keep her safe and know where she is when she is here at our 2nd home.
As an FYI and to answer some questions, we have a Lab/Brittney mix (she's a handful) and yes we have had an issue with the product but it was within the warranty period, was sent back and repaired and returned to us in a timely and no hassle manner. And we would recommend this product to anyone.

Well worth it
For our situation this item does exactly as we hoped. We have 200 acres of fairly rural property and want our dogs to be able to explore within that area without running off. If they did somehow get too far we wanted gps to track them. Burying fence for traditional shock collars would have taken forever for an area this large. We did have to crank the setting fairly high for our large husky to respect the warning but she learned quickly once we got the right settings for her. If only there was a way to set an area within the perimeter as offlimits (in our case goat and chicken pens) this system would be perfect. The initial shipping took awhile because the item was back ordered but sporting dogs emailed promptly and politely when I inquired. Very happy so far. Hopefully the system will hold up over time. ()
Very Nice Product
It is a great baby sitter for our dog. It keeps him home and off the dangerous road. ()
Excellent
This is a fantastic piece of technology. Training, tracking and containment all in one. Pricey but worth it for the piece of mind it offers. Highly recommend. ()
Thank you!!!
Finally after 2 obedient school trainings, another training collar, and running up and down roads searching, we finally have our 22 month German Shepherd staying on our 8+ acre property. Can't be more thankful knowing he's safe at home. Resting easier ()
Perfect training collar
This collar is perfect for the large areas and the difficult to handle dog. We use this collar to contain our very large anitolian on our 90 acre ranch, it allows him to still protect the live stock and remain on our property. It would be nice if it allowed the use of the way points as excludtion areas. ()
Excellent product!
Me & my wife were looking for an easy solution to keep our dog in the yard. This is definitely the answer. You can take this thing anywhere and set up a fence. The two best parts are you don't have to bury wires and it dual's as a dog trainer too so you don't have to buy another system just to train. They both work simultaneously too.YOU NEED TO BUY THIS!!!! ()
very good product!!
very good product!! ()
Border Patrol TC1
Works great - wish it had a longer battery life ()
Great Product
I got this for my lab and so far it is working great. You can program it to how far you want the dog to run and how strong of a shock you want the collar to give off. It is expensive, but it is working great. You can also track the dog with the GPS system. The only downfall is, some things such as tin barns and powerlines will throw the signal off, so you wont be able to track the dog, but other than that this system is well worth the money. ()
Great Product!
We purchased the Border Patrol TC1 Fence/Remote Trainer in order to keep our three dogs on our 35 acre ranch, yet still let them roam the property. The system works great and is easy to use. The most difficult task was locating the center of the radius so that it covered what we needed but excluded the area we wanted left out. The only reason that I didn't give it a five star rating is that the dogs can enter the house through a doggy door while we are away. If they stay in the house to long it seems to shut off the collars due to loss of signal. It may just be a setting on my part as these are new to me and I have not had the opportunity to fully understand the product. I would recommend this product to others. ()
This is a fantastic collar
We absolutely love this collar/fence. We just got this two weeks ago, and Buster is getting the buffer zone pretty well. We've heard about how the problems with this collar have been fixed with this recent v2 release. We've had no issues at all, and our dog isn't having any issues wearing the collar unit. We're also using the collar to train him to come back to the house on a beep. Pretty amazing stuff. ()
Needs new design for antenna on collar and improvement on battery life for controller
This is a good product, it could just use some improvements to make it a great product. I think the battery for the hand held controller needs to be able to have a much longer life. Another issue is the antennae on the collar, it sticks out much too far which makes it prone for getting caught on things and torn off. The setup was user friendly, I appriciated that. ()
Best purchase ever
I am an avid outdoorsman... and so is my dog. He loves to venture far, which is fine by me except when he is too far to hear me call his name. This device solved the problem. I can keep him as close as I want or talk to him from afar. Thanks for the recommendation Sporting Dog Pro! ()
product sent back
problem with handheld unit charging; charger not working could not get handheld unit to calibrate for compass overall I like the system I am awaiting its return hopefully problems will be corrected ()
1 thumb up
I like the border patrol tc1. The training with my dog is going great! Battery life could be a little better. All around I give this product a 7 out of 10. ()
I take this everywhere in Alaska
Up here in Alaska, there is a lot of trouble my GSP can get into in the wilderness. In wide open plains, I'll set his boundary to the maximum setting to give him free range. But when we head into the willows or forrest, I can tighten up his boundary circle to keep him a little closer and away from chasing after moose, bear, or wolves. And if we do ever run into something dangerous on the trail, I can call him to my side with the trainer. I never leave home without it and can't recommend this collar enough. Thanks Sporting Dog Pro! ()
Works amazingly.
Amazing! I have two golden retrievers and a Britney spaniel that I go for long hikes with daily behind my house. If Lucy, the britney sees a deer or other creature, she would take off after it and there was nothing I could do to stop her. We would just have to hope that she would make it home each evening. She learned very quickly with this system to stay close by my side. It's like walking with a portable force field around you to keep your dogs within. It fixed my problem right away, and now I know where all three dogs are at all time. Highly recommended. ()
Very impressed.
We got tired of repairing wire on our old dog fence, so we decided to give this wireless fence a chance. It's amazing how well it works. We live on an 18 acre farm and all we had to do was stand in the middle of the property and set our boundary circle. It holds the perimeter at that center point no matter where the handheld device is, or even if it's powered off. Every once in a while, our Brittney escapes (she's always been tough), but she's easy to find using the tracking GPS mode. Very impressed! ()
Perfect portable fence
This is the best darn dog fence I've ever owned... Period. ()
